Take a little tour of our most flexible design: SideKYT+
A handbag designed around the realities of life with CGMs, insulin pumps, and all their assorted back-up plans.
The inspiration behind SideKYT+
SideKYT+ is exactly how it sounds: the bigger sister of our popular SideKYT crossbody design.
It was built to answer the question we get all the time:
“Do you have a bag for pump users?”
After talking to people using insulin pumps and CGMs around the world, I realised there wasn't one answer to that question. Solving it became part of my mission to redesign the bags and cases we use for diabetes equipment from scratch (more on that here).
Some people use wearable diabetes technology as an opportunity to carry less. Others find themselves carrying more: spare pump sites, back-up insulin pens, glucose testing kits, extra consumables and all the other bits and pieces that help us feel prepared (I’ve shared more on the equipment balancing act here).
That's why diabetes handbags for pumps and diabetes handbags for CGMs need to be flexible. The technology might change, but the need to stay prepared doesn't.
So I designed a bag that could adapt to whatever people needed to carry, rather than telling them what they should carry.
The result is SideKYT+: our most spacious and adaptable design, with room for pump supplies, testing kits, insulin pens, hypo treatments and all the extras that don't fit as comfortably into smaller bags.
Like all KYT designs, it's ethically crafted from premium Italian leather and solid brass hardware, helping create a bag that's ready for daily life while also supporting diabetes charities in need.
One of my favourite things about SideKYT+ is seeing how differently people use it.
Some fill it with pump consumables and back-up equipment. Some use the pen loops for actual pens. Others repurpose pockets for medication, inhalers or whatever else helps them feel prepared.
That's exactly the point. SideKYT+ isn't built around one specific technology. It's built around the reality that diabetes looks a little different for everyone.
Take a full tour of the design with me in the video above and see if it's the style you've been searching for.
P.S: not sure whether StarterKYT, SideKYT or SideKYT+ is the better fit for your diabetes kit? I've broken down the differences here.
